This well-known phrase has taken on new meaning in recent times as some manufacturers have shown a willingness to cut corners in product design and safety in order to add to their profits. The problem has been compounded by the changing nature and structure of the corporate world, which has grown in complexity — often making it difficult to assign blame or place responsiblity. Under these conditions, the threat of serious injury from products which have not been properly designed, tested, or manufactured is very real.
